  Getting into the Model S makes the instrument panel and the massive 17-inch center touchscreen comes to life. Set the steering column-mounted drive selector to D, push the accelerator, and you're off. Similarly, putting the car in Park and getting out turns the car off (no more remembering to shut-off the car!) Walk away or push a button on the fob, and the doors lock and security alarm activates.  It's a refreshing experience and can take a little getting used to, but the Tesla Model S demonstrates 21st century driving.  For one example, there is no key for the Model S. Neither is there a start button or a parking brake. All of these things are legacies from the last century of motoring, now unnecessary with today's technology. Walk up to the car with its Model S-shaped fob in your pocket, and it unlocks, the door handles automatically extending.

Owners of this Model S continue to get free fast charging at Supercharger stations. As of January 15th, 2017 - unlimited Supercharging is no longer being offered! Tesla supercharging stations charge with up to 120 kW of power, or up to 16 times as fast as public charging stations; they take about 20 minutes to charge to 50%, 40 minutes to charge to 80%, and ~ 60-75 minutes to 100%.
